The three most common explanations for the fuckup in the army: I thought, I didn't know and but the guys said...
The buddy system is a method where two people are matched together as buddies (partners). They support each other, look after each other and are responsible for each other. The four most important principles are:
- Mutual supervision - Partners watch each other, help each other and ensure each other's safety.
- Shared Responsibility - Everyone is responsible not only for themselves, but also for their buddy.
- Immediate help - In the event of an accident or problem, the other can intervene immediately.
- Psychological support - Partnering reduces stress and increases the effectiveness of teamwork.
The buddy system is used in high-risk areas - in the military, diving, but it is also ideal for use in everyday activities. In hiking, buddies monitor each other to make sure all is well, in education and work a more experienced buddy will help with the integration of a new colleague or pupil.
Interesting - seemingly unrelated - facts:
- 30-50% of eyewitnesses are wrong in identifying a person.
- 40-60% get details wrong because of beliefs about their truth, stress and leading questions.
- 60-80% are wrong if significant stress was present.
Why am I suddenly writing about eyewitnesses that is not related to the buddy system? Because they are in fact very related and the fable explains everything. But before the fable, one true statement, "A team is only as strong as its weakest link". And when your team has only two members, you can draw the consequences yourself...
When I was getting my diving license, one of the instructors came out as my buddy. We dived to the wreck of a helicopter, I looked on fascinated, and my buddy hid from me. The moment I realised I was missing him, I thought - it's the instructor, he must have surfaced or swam to sort something out. I thought! I joined the next group and finished the dive with them. When we surfaced, he was waiting for me and made my life temporary really terrible. Nothing could justify leaving him. Nothing. He "died" because of me. I was the weakest link at the time. And the feedback was so intense, I'll always remember it.
The promised fable at the end, where it turns out that "I saw with my own eyes" means nothing.
"The Wolf and the Fox on the Mountain Trail"
One winter's day a pack of animals set out to explore the highest mountain peak. Before they started up the ropeway, a wise old bear laid down a rule: Everyone must have a companion to look out for them.
The young wolf chose a fox as his mate, who was known for his agility and cleverness. All day long, they wandered the snowy slopes together, keeping an eye out for each other. But when it began to get dark and it was time to return, the fox suddenly disappeared.
The young wolf waited by the ropeway, anxiously questioning the other animals. "I saw her going down," said the hare. "Yes, she must have gone down with the weasel," the badger joined in. The mountain eagle, who had an overview of the entire slope, confirmed that there was no one left behind.
When the wolf came down the ropeway, he found the fox basking carelessly in the sun in front of the den. "Where have you been?" He asked in exasperation. "Oh, I mistook the path and had to go down a different one," replied the fox icily. "And why didn't you tell me?" "I forgot," she wagged her tail.
Lesson learned:
"Those who trust other people's eyes more than their own can make a huge mistake. And he who betrays another in distress will himself seek help in vain."
Or, unpoetically, don't blindly believe anyone who tells you that he has seen something with his own eyes. Verify. And of course - if your buddy dumps you, you might die.

The classic saying goes that you can always choose two properties out of three. You never get everything at once. When you want something quickly and cheaply, it won't be high quality. When quickly and with quality, it won't be cheap, and so on. Nothing is better at sending your blood pressure towards a heart attack than being in a situation where you're choosing a solution that will least upset the customer. For example, when you order something that's supposed to illuminate, levitate and spin. And it levitates but doesn't spin or illuminate. And factory says - good enough...
It's only the beginning of the year, but many companies already know their calendar for 2025 or know they'll need something. And postponing purchases until they're needed will most likely become more expensive. The weaker ones will have to pick up better blood pressure medication. Do you already know your calendar?

Winter is knocking at the door, motorcycles are resting in garages, but a biker never sleeps! Now is the time to prepare yourself and your machine for the upcoming season. We plan routes, tune up equipment, accessories, write to Santa Claus. The better of us will have taken care of the maintenance too - spring will be here before we've watched all the instructional videos and the adamant mechanics won't want to hear anything about riding next weekend.
Some of us tried track or motocross riding for the first time last year. If that's you, I'm sure you already have a long list of must-buys to make every penny invested worthwhile. The circuit is a bottomless money pit. But one item shouldn't be missing from the list. A tent!
If you've never bought a tent, you have a few questions that we'll answer here.
1. What material?
Here it's quite simple. Aluminum. Without further discussion. It's lighter, more durable and doesn't cost that much more than iron.
2. What size?
Also pretty simple answer. 1-2 bikes - 3x3m. 2-3 bikes 3x4.5. 3-4 bikes - 3x6m. It's better to have more room in the tent so you can fit a table, a chair, throw a helmet on the dryer, hang up your overalls, sit down and still have room to swap bikes or stick something that fell off.
3. What kind of sidewalls?
With a window, without a window, with a door... Windows are an option. So are doors. The ability to close the tent completely on all sides is a must. If you stay overnight, it starts to rain a lot, it blows - you want to be able to close the tent and continue to function inside, possibly creating a mental barrier for night grabbers.
4. With or without printing?
Everyone would like a print. All tarps can be printed in photo quality. Logo, name, photo from the circuit. Anything goes. It's just a matter of budget.
If you have any questions, we'll be happy to help. We are motorcyclists and we not only supply our tents to others but also use them for our own use.
So, may you be able to chop seconds too and if you have an interest or a question - drop us a line we'd be happy to talk about it.
